WHAT SHOULD I CARRY WITH ME?
Something warm to wear on top (fleece or a sweater), a hat, camera and binoculars; nothing too heavy.
HOW LONG IS THE FLIGHT?
The average flight duration is 1 hour traveling approximately 15 to 25 km depending on wind conditions.
WHAT IS THE LAUNCH AND DRIVE TIME TO THE LAUNCH SITE?
Launch time is between 6:00 and 6:30 am (sunrise). The time you depart from your lodge/camp will depend on the distance to the launch site.
HOW HIGH DO WE FLY?
You fly from a few centimetres above the ground up to 12,500 ft above sea level. Legally above 12500 ft A.G.L oxygen is needed.
HOW DO WE GET TO THE LAUNCH SITE AND BACK TO THE HOTEL?
We provide transport to and from your hotel/lodge/camp. If you wish, you may proceed on a game drive after the Champagne Breakfast.

HOW DOES THE PILOT CONTROL THE BALLOON?
The pilot controls the vertical access by heating or cooling the balloon (envelope). If the pilot adds heat to the envelope the balloon goes up and if he lets the envelope cool, the balloon will go down. If the pilot wants to stay buoyant in equilibrium, he will keep the envelope at the same temperature.
The balloons fly by the wind. If there are winds of different directions in different heights the pilot can go up or down and steer the balloon according to the direction of the wind.
DO I NEED TO BOOK IN ADVANCE?
We strongly advise you to book in advance to secure your place. There are only three balloons in the entire Serengeti and this exclusive adventure is frequently fully booked.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
The price varies from as low as US$450 per person.
Please note that rates are per person excluding accommodation and park fees at the respective national parks and game reserves.
ARE THERE ANY RESTRICTIONS?
Children under the age of 7 are not allowed. There is no upper limit, however, passengers must be reasonably mobile, fit to fly and prepared for an adventure.
Balloon passenger weights are calculated at an average of 80kg (175lbs). Passengers weighing 50% more than this (i.e. 120kgs / 265lbs /19 stone) may be charged for two places.
